OUR STORY

In 2017, I signed up for a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Ubud, Bali and thought that I would walk away with a certificate, some new friends, and a good tan. What I left with was a newfound sense of adventure and a complete love for the people and the land of Bali. This was my first time traveling abroad by myself and it was such a delight. I did not have much time to explore the island while I was there as I had already taken three weeks off of work, so I vowed to return someday.

That someday happened to be three years later at the start of the shutdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. My husband and I had planned a two-week trip at the start of March 2020 and decided to take a risk and stay the course, making the trek halfway around the world.

We practically had the island to ourselves, but got to explore all of the nooks and crannies with the help of an amazing friend and driver by the name of Widi. Widi was so gracious and helpful and we loved spending the days with him. We ended up cutting our trip short due to the impending shutdowns in Chicago, but we kept in touch with Widi.

A few months later he told me how badly the economy was hurting due to closed borders and the lack of tourism, which accounts for almost 90% of their economy. It was then that I had the idea to import goods from local artisans to not only bring the amazing craftsmanship to friends and family in the US, but to help the people that were hit so hard by the shutdowns.

With Widi’s help, I placed all of my orders and left it up to him to collect and ship the products. I would not be in the position I’m in today without his help and assistance and for that I am so grateful. This is my first venture into selling goods but I can say with confidence that I’ve already enjoyed so much of it.

Thank you for supporting me, and in turn, the people of Bali.
